Correctly recording (lack of) qualifications

A moderator doing sterling work on the Ahmedabad accident discussions has requested that posters ensure that their profiles are updated with their piloting qualifications so that the moderation task can be eased.

This is fine.

I would like some clarification on how non-pilots should record their lack of piloting qualifications. The relevant fields in the profile are labelled as being for pilots only, so in principle, should be left blank/undisturbed by non-pilots.

Should I actually enter text such as 'N/A' to indicate that the question is not applicable to me?

Or should I leave it blank and put in the 'Biography' field some status such as SLF/SLC (Self Loading Freight/Self Loading Cargo)?

Or should I put SLF/SLC in the 'pilots-only' field?

I have searched for an answer, and came up with nothing. I acknowledge that this might be a result of my poor search skills.

I have PMed the a relevant moderator, but they are likely too busy on more pressing tasks to deal with administrivia like this. I have no quibble with this: the mods do an excellent job in trying circumstances, so triage of incoming messages is necessary.

As a result, I am posting this. Any thoughts?

Thanks,

Semreh.

I just put N/A when I first registered, seems to cover the absence of licences perfectly.

I think I put SLF in the "Occupation".

What about those that need to remain (semi) anonymous - as a means of discretion?

I realise that not posting might also fix this...

Good luck.

I continue to be intrigued that someone wanting to contribute professionally to a Professional Pilots forum would want and expect to be doing so without their background being available. We are able to run checks behind the screen but each check takes time, is not always fruitful and detracts from other Moderation tasks.

This is my personal opinion but just listing a licence qualification on PPRuNe is hardly handing over your bank details to a hacker 🤔🙈

If you are not an aviation industry professional or have relevant credentials which would add credibility to your posts, then just say so in a manner that we can understand. Amusing replies don’t always help when we are dealing with hundreds of posts a day on a fast moving topic and all the while being criticised for allowing apparently inaccurate messages to get through.
