PPRuNe 'style chooser'?
What has happened to the 'style chooser' which used to include a 'no ads style' option?
Now there are 3 options, but with 'vBulletin 3' we're back to the 'PPRuNe is not responding due to long running script' effects of excessive adverts....
Can we have the 'no ads' option back please?

+1.
I tried the mobile version expecting fewer adds. (on laptop)
It said "Message has too few characters."
Struggling to use it at work now
due to marginal wi fi.

This site is now too appallingly slow to be useable, never mind enjoyed.
I know that my landline is slow, and the combination of the two . . .
Sorry, PPRuNe, looks like time to leave.

Here in the States there's a particularly annoying flash ad from a German email provider (
) that loads two-up on the RHS panel, and that keeps leading PPRuNe to crash (on both Chrome & IE).
Surprised that the decision was made to deep six the ad-free option: the level of posting activity on Rotorheads has already been noticeably down this year, without the added disincentive of flash ads.

The level of advertising contamination (usually because of animated graphics) is fast making PPRuNe unusable. Certainly with IE11.
Firefox is better, but PLEASE restore the 'No Ads' option before IB kills the goose which laid the golden eggs....

It's hard to tell which of the plethora of advertising now infesting PPRuNe is causing the problems, particularly with IE11, but it's probably those with annoying moving graphics in the main.
But I'm getting really fed up with the freezing and performance issues we're seeing on PPRuNe ever since 'noAds' was ditched.
Even moderators have advised me to install an 'ad blocker', now that the site has become so user-unfriendly.
Why should users be your QA consultants? Perhaps you should check the adverts yourselves, before you inflict them on others!
And no, it isn't my Internet connection which at issue - I have a 'Superfast' fibre to the premises connection.

I must echo BEagle's words there.
I use IE11 and I must say that the number of animated graphics (especially those jiggling GIFs) ads that have to be suffered is nothing less than painful.
The advertisers also need to be made understand that particular immature and amateurish approach to getting their message across is, in fact, counter-productive.
Annoy me, and others, to that extent and we make a mental note NOT to avail ourselves of that advertiser's products or services.
Then there's the freezing and downloading frustrations...
Of the sites that I regularly visit, PPRuNe is the only one to have these advertising-induced problems.
It makes the site appear somewhat less than professional.

IBobi, it's up to you to ensure that the website is compatible with all browsers. Why should users be told to change browsers, just because you cannot sort out your adverts' compatibility?
Incidentally, I think that watch4.com is a likely suspect.
Please reinstate the NoAds option!!

IBobi,
Thanks for your responses but your last one (#11) does not wash with me and, I'm sure, others either.
Just recently, a major retailer here had been having problems with their 'clever' new IT idea.
The girls on the complaint line had been instructed to suggest to complainants that they change to Google Chrome. (Ahem!)
Well, of course they've now fixed things so that their setup is now compatible with all major browsers. (Fancy that).
An analogy would be asking the holder of one particular bank's credit card to switch to another because the 'new' system can't cope.
See what I'm getting at?

If you see a bad ad, take a screen shot of the page.
Go to GO ADVANCED in a new post.
Click MANAGE ATTACHMENTS.
Upload your screen shot.
Tell us what is happening when this ad runs on the page.
Tell us your browser type and device type.
We will block the ad if it is a problem.

IBobi, as the site is contaminated with so many adverts these days, how on earth are we expected to be able to decide which particular one is causing the abysmal lack of performance this website now exhibits with IE11?
I repeat - you need to check all adverts for browser compatibility before you accept them. Do your own QA please!
Alternatively, give us back the NoAds style.
At least get rid of all adverts from the 'Reply to Thread' page
!!

Take a screen shot of the whole page. Post it here. If there is a bad ad, we will see it on more than one screen shot and we'll know that's the one.
As I have said, there is literally a zero percent chance that the NoAds style (or anything like it) is ever coming back. It's been removed from the software altogether.
