Longest Scheduled Nonstop Commercial Flight?

Emirates Inaugural nonstop - LAX / DXB to debut soon.

Heading East to DXB out of LAX, it's less only about 400 miles zero wind distance than heading West!

Is this the longest regularly scheduled commercial nonstop flight to date?

Fly3 20th Oct 2008 06:05

Not even close. I think the Singapore Airlines route from SIN to EWR is about 1000nm further.

anartificialhorizon 20th Oct 2008 06:37

SIN to EWR and SIN to LAX using SQ A340-500 are the longest non stop commercial flights.....

Will Hung 20th Oct 2008 07:30

Sorry Guys, but where's EWR ?

Splat 20th Oct 2008 07:33

Google "ewr airport" shows Newark....

anartificialhorizon 20th Oct 2008 07:33

Newark, New York , US of A.

dixi188 20th Oct 2008 07:53

Wikipedia (I know its not guaranteed) has

SQ21 EWR-SIN 18hrs 40min on 29-06-04 (8963nm)

EK215 DXB-LAX 16hrs 35min on 26-10-08 (7246nm) (start date)

If this info is correct Emirates doesn't even come close.

Next time I'm onboard I'll try to get the Great Circle distances from our nav kit. Not sure if our database has all these places as we only fly Europe and Middle East,

Fly safe.

Entire post goes to spotters corner and questions on how long a statute mile are welcomed!

raffele 20th Oct 2008 09:41

This topic was dealt with a couple months ago! Longest scheduled non stop commercial flight is currently Singapore (SIN) to Newark (EWR). It was in Spotters Balcony I think...

rebellion 20th Oct 2008 10:03

How long will the EK crews get in LAX?

the_hawk 20th Oct 2008 10:07

since we're working on spooter's balcony already:

is LAX-DXB heading west really only ~7650nm?
