Dont know who you fly with but most airlines ask that you have the blind up!

This is so that your eyes adjust to the dark incase of an evacuation and also so that you can see if the engine was to catch fire.

Blinds up and lighting dimmed for takeoff, so that the pax eyes are accustomed to outside lighting, if an evacuation is required.

Normally the lights are made brighter in the climb, when the captain releases the cabin crew to start getting the service ready.

Have a good flight.

This is a question that gets asked here about three times a year, so search the archives to find out more.

Rules vary from one country to another and one carrier to another. One other reason given for blinds up is that, if the emergency services need to attend, they can look in the windows, as much as you looking out!
