Effects of flying on your skin
I’m just completing a working career, and in doing so have done a lot of long haul flying especially in the last 3 months with far more than I normally have done.
I noticed that I seem to have more facial dry skin than normal and wondered what the professionals do to overcome this, which must also effect all CC and indeed flight deck. I perhaps should have asked years ago, but to be honest it never was an issue, but I noticed it more in December after some trips out to Far East after a trip to Panama / Mexico. Any recommendations as I have another long trip coming on Christmas Day ?

Thanks for the information, which to be honest I already do re moisturiser, and SWBKCB maybe onto something with the age thing or it maybe I have done a bit more than usual in the last 3 months.

A humidity meter in your house, if you don't already have one, costs you about three quid. As it's where you spend most of your time, it will tell you whether you need a dehumidifier or a humidifier.
I bought a dehumidifier when I lived in Wantage (high humidity, black mould) and I've hardly ever used it in Lincolnshire, much drier climate. In Verona, the months when the aircon is turned off, I use a humidifier. It's called a swimming pool.

I come out in spots if I eat anything other that a low-fat diet, and am very spotty after the usual Xmas season of overindulgence. A quick blast of Vitamin D (sunshine) will fix the problem. The twins, blast them, can sail serenely through adolescence eating whatever they want (mostly pizza) without a single zit. They do, however, have to put up with casual racism in fascist Italy.
When the Xmas season is over and I return to my diet (target: 14 kg off by the end of 2026, so I am normal weight, not overweight: I've already lost 19 kg from peak) I expect my complexion to return to normal. When it does, people underestimate my age by as much as 30 years.
Mr Mac, seeing you at the Bash, I would have estimated you in your fifties, maybe a bit too long in the sun. I was a bit surprised that you decided to quit at the prime of your life and not to commute to Leeds, You didn't look burned out and ready to have the spoon tilted gently into your mouth by the kind nurse,
Have you thought of transitting from SLF to some other kind of aerosports, maybe hang-gliding or gliding? Neither are expensive.

From: Too close to Croydon for comfort
I've had to turn to a moisturiser recently, I keep my beard trimmed fairly close otherwise much of it sticks out like Christopher Lee's hair in The Wicker Man; upshot of this was "beard druff" visible on my mostly dark coloured t-shirts or sweaters. Since I started using a sensitive skin facial wash most days it's dried up - if that's the right phrase.

Thanks for information. I haven’t done any flying of any duration since Boxing Day and none for another 2.5,days and all seems to have settled down including my sleep patterns which have really been very shredded recently through a lot of long haul ie 10 hrs plus Westc/ East and I guess I am not as young as I was.

The old dog has a cunning plan he thinks, as I am not ready for the Nurse just yet, if indeed I ever will be.
However I cannot divulge more until back of this extended break which is going really well with Mrs Mac really enjoying it so far as well.
As for the comments of how old I look post meeting at White Waltham bash, that’s very kind and uncalled for but thank you.
As for the sun tan you can blame Scottish heritage but also myself and replacement had been undertaking external inspection of high rises which though not normalcy something senior management have to do, some serious clients respect your expertise and request you do it and the structures we were inspecting reflect this, and indeed we are paid immediately on reports regardless of findings good or bad. For that type of client a little sun tan is the least you can do.
