Flying with Confidence
This booklet used to be issued by Thomson Airways to people taking the Flying with Confidence course at East Midlands, aiming to alleviate the fear of flying experienced by some passengers. It may still be helpful to those who suffer from this problem.

I see BA still do a "Fear of Flying" course at Heathrow on Saturdays every two or three months, culminating with a 30 minute A320 flight.

I always soothe the nerves of passengers around me by having films like Raid on Entebbe, Airplane!, and Snakes on a Plane on my laptop. I'm a bit hard of hearing so I turn up the volume extra loud when the passengers on the film are screaming things like 'we're all going to die!' and the like.
The BA 'flying with confidence' course featured in an episode of 'Heathrow - Britain's Busiest Airport'. I regret I don't remember in which episode, and I can't find a website which lists the content of the episodes. They're all available as youtubes,

In Jersey European, we used to do a fear of flying course in a 'Shed', (Shorts 360), I kid you not. I was an extra pilot and I stood at the front of the cabin doing a running commentary over the PA about all the noises of the 'plane and the flight, and what was going on.
It seemed a bit unfair to the frightened passengers to me, but I suppose it was the least claustrophobic cabin, being square in section.

The Shorts 360 seems an odd choice because it's not very typical of most passenger flights - which are typically at 30,000 feet, above the weather, and pressurised. Perhaps it was chosen because it was typical of that particular airline's fleet?
