Lufthansa will allow you to take a dog from Dublin to Frankfurt in the cabin (€60 charge) but they will not allow you take the dog back FRA to DUB because (I'm serious) Lufthansa considers Ireland to be part of the UK!
The department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine here in ROI confirm there are no restrictions bringing your pet dog or cat into Ireland from another EU country (providing it has been microchipped, rabies vaccinated, tapeworm free and has an EU pet passport).

Anyone know what happened LH2518 yesterday? We returned to MUC about 50 minutes into the flight before changing aircraft and heading on to DUB as planned. Pilot said there was an issue with the aircraft but it obviously wasn't anything major as we landed fine in MUC and there was no obvious issue. Just curious. My first mid air turnaround!
In a nutshell, it doesn't mean that the aircraft can't fly but it may mean that it requires grounding and fixing before its next flight. Best to have the aircraft get back to what is one of its maintenance bases then have it go AOG away from base and needing spare parts flown in. The knock on delay would be quite extensive too. Also, returning to base means a spare aircraft is available and any knock on delays are kept to the absolute minimum.

It would just depend on the problem of course. My explanation was based on an actual experience. Captain explained that a problem had developed which would not effectively prevent him from continuing the flight to destination, but it would prevent it departing again until resolved (MEL issue). It would have required a spare to be flown in and a much longer downtime. The company elected to bring the aircraft back to base. When we landed (a few hours later) a spare (different type of) aircraft and a fresh crew were ready and within about 75 mins we were once again on our way.
