Nasty fight erupts over boombox on Spirit Airlines

Nothing new with our selfish young society of today. Many have no basic discipline and do not know the meaning of being considerate. Unfortunately, there is a greater likelihood of coming across these fine specimens of the human race on board cheap public transport which now includes Very Cheapo Airlines!
I would pay extra to be on this flight. As a matter of fact my policy in never to be involved to a fight (between either men, between women, or gay). The best inflight entertainment.
Seriously I am very concerned about collateral damage but as long as it remains between those initally involved I think is fine.

Seem to remember a story from years ago, about a bloke riding a public transport bus in NY city.
One of the boom-box set got on with his sound machine, sat down and promptly cranked up the volume on numerous particularly annoying rap songs.
Many pax glared and privately expressed extreme annoyance at the racket, but no-one moved to do anything.
After a while this particular bloke stood up and went over the offender, told him he really liked his sound machine, and asked if he would sell him his boom-box for (say) $50 (it was a reasonable sum at the time).
The somewhat surprised boom-box owner agreed after a few seconds thought - and the money and the boom-box exchanged hands.
Once the bloke had the offending device in his hands, he promptly opened a window and hurled the offending device onto the road, whereupon it smashed into many pieces and stopped producing sound.
It was reported the rest of the pax came out with a resounding cheer for the bloke and his actions. The reaction of the original owner of the boom-box wasn't reported.
What a shame you couldn't do that on an aircraft. You could always stomp on it, I guess.
With assistance from 150 other annoyed pax.

The answer is simple. You ask the passenger making the noise to turn their machine off and that is what we would do. Non-compliance is not an option. This particular incident was an own goal scored by Spirit because they failed to manage the situation.

Thing is it's only going to get worse. Parents these days allow their kids to play games or watch films with the volume on full. Said children then grow up thinking it's acceptable. It is incredibly selfish. I always would ask them to put on headphone or earphones or turn the volume right down - often to the annoyance of the parents. However, they forget that the world doesn't revolve around them and their kid.

My wife (used to) watch TV with the volume a lot higher that I found comfortable, and I was in another room on another floor.
Got her some Senhausser 'stethoscope' headphones. Now she hears the TV much more clearly, and I get peace and quiet.
