Oldest-ever flight attendant (United this time)

Thought you might like this. I did GVA-IAD on UA975 on September 21st. There was quite an elderly flight attendant on my side of BusinessFirst. Half an hour before landing, the pilot announced that "We have a happy announcement to make today... Marie-Claire is celebrating her last flight with us today. She started with United in.... 1959". Supposing she was 18 at the time, that would have made her 74 on the day...

In the USA you can't make someone retire regardless of age. As long as they can still do the job they can carry on.

I wish I could reach that age and still be strong and healthy. Retirement is not for everyone. I have met people who fade after retirement. One needs to be busy doing something productive. Let alone doing a job that does not feel like such.

The only thing older than United's planes are their flight attendants.

For those few times I flew United due to lack of choice back in the 80s and 90s, I thought it was a requirement that CC had to be over 65.

You mean it wasn't?

I've held off this far but I think we've said all there is about age and staffing. Some like / are able to stop work early and others are not.
