A380 config at the stand in Dubai
Just flown to LHR via DXB on a Qantas A380. I noticed that both our aircraft and the neighbouring QF A380 had parked at the stand with the slats and flaps partially extended. Curious as to why. I wondered if this was to avoid problems with jamming due to metal expansion in the heat (at one point predicted to be 47C on Sunday!).
Thanks
Thanks
It's to let air circulate between the slat and wing to help avoid a Wing hot caution. Only done when temps are above 30degrees.

Great thanks. So seems to be an airbus thing. Next question - what problem(s) does a 'hot wing' cause in an airbus? Why are boeing aircraft not prone to the same issue(s)? (NB: I am not wanting to start an AvB argument).
There is no problem with the bus. There is a sensor on the forward part of the wing that detects bleed air leaks. In hot conditions false warnings can be given. This precaution is to prevent false warnings.
