BA0043 - LHR-CPT - Refitted 744?

I'm travelling to Cape Town at the end of October and was wondering if anyone in the know could tell me if the aircraft (744 I believe) is likely to be a recently refitted one.

The last time I flew this route with BA 4 years ago, the cabin was feeling rather tired and in need of some TLC.

Thanks!

Hi Steve,

None of the 747s have had a cabin refresh recently. Most have Prime (new First) and all have the standard 2006 Club seat and year 2000 WT+ and WT cabins with Rockwell Collins IFE. It's AVOD but is starting to show its age. Old doesn't always mean tired though. The 747 fleet is a mixed bag. Some aircraft are crying out for a spruce up and others have quite decent interiors. Just luck of the draw which one you'll get!

Most of the fleet will undergo a refresh starting next summer and this will take about a year I think.

I'm afraid that you may be in for a disappointment. BA have a small number of 747s due for retirement. They've decided not to upgrade First in those aircraft so they aren't selling First on those aircraft and simply selling it as part of the Club World inventory. One of the route affected is Cape Town. Just because First isn't being upgraded doesn't mean the rest of the plane will be tired but.....
