City Airport evacuated as passenger running late sets off fire alarm in bid to delay

If this report is true one cannot help feeling that said passenger got off rather lightly to say the least.

This from the Guardian: "The Metropolitan police said the decision on whether to make a complaint rested with the airport. An airport spokesman said that while they did not encourage passengers to set off fire alarms, on this occasion no flights had been delayed and they saw little point in pursuing a prosecution."

Absolutely astonishing that he has not faced any punishment whatsoever and even more outrageous that he was allowed to board a later flight. I am at a loss as to why these people are treated so well in the UK. This is not the first time I have heard of extremely unruly passengers in UK airports being let off without so much as a warning by the police and being allowed to continue on their way as if nothing has happened. This man caused disruption to hundreds of more organised passengers all because he can't make it to his flight on time. At the very least he should have been banned from flying BA or from LCY again. I bet they even took him for free on the next flight.

Such folk should be sued in the civil courts for the cost. There would have been lost takings at shops, possible diversions, certainly much time and effort by many staff.

Do they think they are making themselves look good? To me, it means the mgmt don't know what they are doing and are not interested in protecting their customers from future problems.
