ThomasCook/Condor

Hi,

We went into a local ThomasCook branch yesterday looking at holidays for next year. We were told that Condor would be operating all Palma flights from Manchester for Thomascook next year. Does anyone know why this would be the case?? Just sounded strange.

I guess you are aware that Condor is also a part of Thomas Cook?

Can't answer that bit factually. It is not uncommon on this side of the channel to see interchange of aircraft of different countries but from the same Group. I believe that in the UK Thomson also do it, on a smaller scale, with their Swedish counterpart. There are a variety of operational, economical and logistical reasons for them to do this. Could just be that TCX UK don't have enough capacity in their fleet.

Yes, I suppose that could be the case here. It just sounded odd that they said all Palma flights. If Condor were operating an aircraft line for them they wouldn't be doing ALL the Palma flights. They must be doing a fair bit for them.

It's not just PMI, flights are also being operated to FUE and RHO (I think there is another couple of destinations)

I think it's to do with the maintenance, as the 757's will be looked after at MAN. So I think the flight may operate a flight Germany to resort to the UK and back to resort back to Germany.

Interesting that your local Travel Agent would even know that information.

Does it matter that it will have Condor painted down the side as opposed to Thomas Cook?

Personally id quite enjoy travelling on one of the few remaining historic airlines

Although wouldnt it be nice if Thomas Cook rebranded one of their planes in the previous John Mason Cook livery again . . .
