I don't think this one is down to code share. It's probably a BA City Flyer aircraft that has been chartered by whoever your friends have booked with. Would this trip be with Thomson by any chance? They have used City Flyer on this route with the same flight number in the past.

These are charters operated by the British Airways Cityflyer Embraer 190 fleet. Because London City, their normal hub, is always closed from 1300 Saturday to 1300 Sunday, they find charter work for the aircraft in this time. This aircraft during the week will be found on Glasgow to LCY operations.
I'm not quite clear why the original poster says it is "not a BA flight" when the aircraft is in full BA livery, the crew are in full BA uniforms, it is announced as flight No BAxxxx, etc
