Duty free at BKK

Can someone tell me why I can't buy duty free at BKK in containers larger than 100ml if I'm flying to Australia, NZ or USA, but I can if I'm flying to the EU?

Logical is different.....

Odd cos I did just a few months ago going to Lax with both my bottle of gin and Mrs ZFT's ridiculously expensive 'smellies'
