Virgin Premium Economy - Worth It?
Hi,
I'm considering upgrading to Premium Economy for a forthcoming flight from MAN to MCO and back on Virgin - however, the price difference for two of us is pretty significant compared to standard Economy class.
Just wondered if anyone has any experience of this product and whether they would consider it worth the upgrade in hindsight? The flight is scheduled to be on the A330-300 if that makes any difference.
Thanks in advance

No one can answer that question but you, Eurotraveller. For myself, when I'm paying, I have a six hour rule. More than six then I travel PE/WT+. I have always considered it worth paying and regularly choose to pay for PE on long haul. Indeed, I would only travel Y on long haul if something VERY serious demanded me to be there!
Some folks prefer to spend more on hotels/clothes/etc. I choose to ride more comfortably on aircraft. In March I did LHR/JNB~CPT/LHR in PE and paid about double what I would have paid for Y and was happy with my choice. Some of my friends think I'm crazy.

Everyone has a horror story. I've used VS as my first choice for long haul carrier for 26 years and never had a problem. It's the lucky draw of airline travel. (Not employed by anyone in the airline biz in the past or now)
It isn't the baggage that's the problem; just being ignored.
D1+GD3 en route and I'd heard (so not confirmed) that power cut at SYD meant checked bags not loaded. Not VS fault; perhaps just one of those things.

4 Hours in my max ....
BTW, have just booked V Atlantic Prem Econ .... LGW-Orlando, returning NY - LHR
The system won't let me select my seat outbound, but it will for the inbound????
Any thoughts? Is it because they don't know what equipment will be operating the service? (we're talking 10 months away)

They are "refurbishing" the LGW based 747's starting (in theory) around March 2012, and it seems they haven't decided exactly how PE will look, plus they will have a "mixed" fleet for a while so they aren't doing any seat reservations for PE during that time. You will be able to select at online checkin, but if I was you I would check every few days, as plans are liable to change...
