Yep, reminds me of my trips MAN-DOH-MNL with Qatar.

2 glasses of champagne before push-back, a glass of wine when airborne, then another with the meal, then constant replenishment.

I say MAN-DOH-MNL, but for some reason I normally sleep on the DOH-MNL section, not sure why???????

As stated earlier, it is each to their own, If i drink alcohol I tend to sleep, so each top up last at least an hour.

Just take your time, chat to the flight crew and the assessment they make will normally be in your favour.

Go SQ!!

Same here on SQ flights, long and short. The CC are very attentive and must be running a sweepstake on how many drinks I can get through(!)

Why is there this almost pathological obsession with necking as much free booze as one possibly can while OB?

@ CCC ... the same way some people neck it in the Lounges. "It's free", "I'm entitled, I bought my ticket", etc. etc. Some people just can't resist anything that's perceived as "free". Some people clearly can't resist pouring down the G&T, JD Blue or whatever in the Lounge at 0930 ... I can't believe they normally do that.

Is it that the whole 'flying experience', from check-in onwards, is so alien that people undergo some mystical transformation to an alter ego?

I'm certainly not a non-drinker, by a long way but when flying I'm always conscious that [a] I usually have to drive when I get to my destination, [b] might possibly need to perform a emergency evacuation [nod to TightSlot] and [c] have to present myself to Immigration officials. None of those scenarios work well with a skin-full of booze, free or otherwise.

I would be more than happy if the lounge adjacent to Gate 3 at JER offered at least a slice of toast and a decent cup of coffee at 9:30 AM!

Wink

Trust me when you pay for Business class, the alcohol and food are not free........

It is part and parcel of the ticket price. Trust me, even on a 9 hour flight I have never left the aircraft in an drunken state. I know my limits which is why I stated clearly 1 glass of wine lasts at least an hour, hardly necking as much alcohol as possible.

PS: My flight times ex MAN are 1455, MNL 1820, not exactly morning flights.

I just enjoy the experience, It's all just an example of the service delivered by different airlines and the "radar" of the cabin crew.

Can't wait for my next trip, leave at 8am from the train station with my 4 pack of Diamond White cider!!!!
