Not travelling on one segment but still wanting the other?

We are booked on Turkish Airlines as follows:

Manchester - Istanbul (28 Aug)
Istanbul - Doha (30 Aug)

This was to give us a stopover in Istanbul for a couple of days before our onwards flight to Qatar. But now we want to stay in the UK for those extra couple of days. I've looked at some fairly cheap one way Manchester - Istanbul flights (with Lutfhansa) and the times tie up with our connection to Doha.

But what happend if we simply don't turn up for the Turkish Man-Ist flight? Will the onward segment still be valid?

Regards

Check your carriers terms and conditions to confirm this, but the usual practice is that the whole ticket will be cancelled.

The best course of action is to talk to the airline, since as this is a oneway flight, there may be more latitude than on a return flight (but don't count on it.)

Let us know the outcome and good luck.

The fare will almost certainly have been calculated as a through fare and not two one ways, your onward will be cancelled.

Unless you contact the carrier, cancel MAN-IST, and have the ticket reissued, your IST DOH will be cancelled.

I agree with above posters, with the fact that if you do not use the first segment, then any subsequent section will be cancelled.

in fact, it was somewhere on Pprune (not sure where), where a guy was travelling LONDON - DUB with FR, and then doing a DUB - LONDON - LAS (not sure who with) as it was cheaper than just the LONDON - LAS (even adding on the FR flight cost).

Check out TK's CoC here.

In particular:

3. 3 Flight Coupon Sequence
3. 3. 1 Carrier will honour flight coupons only in sequence from the place of departure as shown on the ticket.
3. 3. 2. The ticket may not be valid and Carrier may not honour the passenger's ticket if the first flight coupon for international travel has not been used and the passenger commences his or her journey at any stopover or agreed stopping place.
and
5. 1 General
Fares apply only for carriage from the airport at the point of origin to the airport at the point of the destination.
and
6. 7 Cancellation Of Onward Reservations Made By Carrier
if a passenger does not use a reservation and fails to advise Carrier, Carrier may cancel or request cncellation of any onward or return reservations.
Give TK a call, who knows they may be prepared to rebook you for a small fee. Don't try and do it without their knowledge!

Cheers Guys,

I'll give them a ring and see what they say.

As usual, very helpful help here on PPruNe.
