LS907 - 17th May - What happened

Jet2 Flight from MAN to TLV on Monday 17th May. Morning after MAN had been closed due to ash.

Everything was going smoothly and about half the plane had boarded. Boarding then stopped and a woman got phoned by her daughter who was already on the plane. 'They're taking us off the plane because the pilot says the airport is shutting because of ash'.

They de-planed and we waited an hour or so and then we boarded again with a dead heading crew to fly the plane home. There was no formal explanation and no comment about the airport closing. In fact whilst we were waiting several planes took off. I can only think that there was another problem no related to the ash.

What was going on?
