ONEWORLD on seat selection for Gold/ Emerald card members

I have just booked a comprehensive series of flights with ONEWORLD covering DXB-HKG-NRT-OKA-KIX-HKG-MNL-HKG-BKK-HKG-DXB and will be doing it all in economy as I am taking my wife which is no great issue but I tried to book emergency exit row seats and in most cases CX charge for the privilige which I fully understand, what did surprise me though is that my ONEWORLD Gold card gives me no benefit in this as they are only free to ASIA MILES status holders. must say I am dissapointed as I deliberately booked the whole routing with CX/JL because it is the same alliance.

Just shows how selectve the benefits of so called Alliance FF schemes can be and that loyaly is very much a one way street.

That being said; I am sure that I will enjoy my travels although after using CX business from DXB-HKG-PER-HKG-DXB last week it will be a challenge to turn right and not left
