As the thread suggested I was planning the Manila - Boracay - Bangkok. However the protests, in availability of direct flights or decent connections have changed my route considerably. Routing via Hong Kong has worked out cheaper and better. This however does not address the issue in Bangkok so I have added on Manila and Bali at the same cost!

New route Hong Kong - Manila (3 day stop) - Caticlan - Manila - Hong Kong (over night) - Bali - Hong Kong.

New concern I hear that PR flights out of Caticlan (MPH) are always running late. My Caticlan - Manila - Hong Kong has a layover of about 2 hrs in Manila. Any feedback on historical Data? A delay would screw up the "New Route"

I flew it

So finally did this leg

Inbound on PR, Scheduled flying time 1:10 mins. Actual flying time 42 minutes, retrieving luggage 55 seconds, on the beach 40 mins later!!! Flight left on time. Loved the landing! Did however notice a very rapid turn around and by the time I was walking away from the airport I could see the aircraft taking off!

Return

Flt departure was at 1040

Apparently the incoming aircraft has landed early and most of the passengers were already there so they loaded it up and packed it off 40 mins early !!!! Therefore Inspite of getting there on time I missed the flight........ Was loaded onto another flight ETD 1220 which left at 1250. Again landed 40 mins later.

Loved the departure............

Well, the planes only land in one direction, and take off in the same - from the sea and towards the sea ..

If only you had walked to the end of the runway at the mountain end and see the rubber burnt before the planes turn to bakctrack - you will wonder how the Dash 8 squeezed in ...

I did take a look-see .. scary but on the edge

After all - this airport used to see the 4 jet engine jumbo-liner BAe 146 of Asian Spirit ...

Safe flying ..
