Question Northwest and Albuquerque

I was very surprised to learn that Northwest flies between Albuquerque and Minneapolis/St. Paul. When did this start and how? Did NW absorb an airline flying that route? Is ABQ just a stop on a longer route from/to MSP?

abq is not a stop, the stop is msp.
nw628 flies abq-msp-grr, nw624 abq-msp-phl, nw627 phl-msp-abq and nw625 ord-msp-abq.
all routes with b-727.

Question

Strix, any idea why NW added ABQ to its route structure, or when? I never considered NW to be a carrier serving the southwest.
