Question about transiting FRA

In a couple of weeks I will be transiting through FRA on my way from SFO to BUD, and have a three-hour layover. A German friend of mine lives near the airport and suggested he meet me at the airport for a beer or some coffee. Is this possible? Will I be able to leave the sterile side of the airport to meet him and then re-enter for my next flight?

Mark - assuming your inbound flight arrives vaguely on time, you're not carrying anything over which security get upset (e.g. liquids) and your passport lets you enter and leave Germany without restriction, then beer with an old friend seems like quite a good way to pass the time
