Thumbs up Asian Carriers Slash Fares!

Fare discounting has started in Asia with key airlines trying to stimulate the flagging
business market. All Nippon Airways Tuesday announced a 34% discount on business-class fares from Oct. 1. The cuts apply to routes between Tokyo and London, New York, Chicago and Los Angeles; they are for weekday flights and carry seven-day advance purchase restrictions. Cathay Pacific Airways is trying a different approach by offering cheap flights within Asia. This deal gives passengers three economy-class roundtrips from Hong Kong to any of 16 destinations for HK$6,880 ($880). The cities are Bangkok, Cebu, Bali, New Delhi, Fukuoka, Jakarta, Kuala Lumpur, Manila, Nagoya, Osaka, Penang, Seoul, Singapore, Surabaya, Taipei and Tokyo. The package is for flights up to March 28.
