London City Airport today

Hi Guys/Gals
Please forgive me if this sounds like a stupid question, but this is really bugging me, Today on my way home from uni, I was waiting at westferry (London) DLR station, when I saw this corporate jet fly over me on final approach to London city, I could see his landing light, and it was flashing (on off on off on off) my question is? Did anyone see this, and why was he doing it?
