I'm sad to see that on the APD Petition link they have failed to include those of us working in the airline industry in the list of those affected by such a tax increase. If we cannot abolish these tax increases then who will be affected to bring down prices on tickets again?.... Us.

What many people fail to realise, including the CEO's of some UK airlines, is that although Gordon Brown says he is for a third runway at Heathrow, he sharply raises APD which will depress passenger numbers especially at this time when so many airlines are struggling.
I believe that Labour and the Conservatives when they take power, will cap passenger numbers at UK airports by taxation. So while airlines make economies to be competitive and reduce fares, the customer does not pay any less as the Government just loads up tickets with tax.
When is the penny going to drop?
Also the future for Low Cost airlines is uncertain; there will not be any low fares in the future as APD will feature like tax does on petrol. A far higher percentage than the cost of the product itself.

But what can be done about it, when the major parties are clamouring to tax us until the pips squeak in a fruitless attempt to reduce the spiraling national debt, & pointing the finger at civil aviation as a major alleged contributor to so-called climate change?
