Additional/excess baggage on BA.com

British Airways claim you can pre-book additional bags over the free bag allowance via their "manage my booking" service on their website. I have been able to see all my booking details, but haven't found any link enabling me to pre-book an additional bag.

Has anyone else done this successfully?

I think you can only do this when checking in. If I rember when it asked how many bags you can check in extra for a fee.

British Airways - Additional and overweight baggage

Then click on additional bags that take you over your free allowance.

Gives a clue.

Thanks but no thanks Hartington. I've been there several times.

I've since managed to talk to a real person at BA about it and it seems that despite requesting and being booked on BA011, I've been actually booked on a code-shared QF flight number and so pre-booking of additional baggage is unavailable.

Bollocks really.

Do you mean your travel agent booked you on a different flight to the one you requested, or did you select the wrong flight online?

Maybe the QF option was cheaper?
Yet again, the full information is not given and the usual suspects jump up with their oh so predictable anti BA comments!
Maybe it is time for everyone to relax, stop whingeing and travel with their carrier of choice. Then, maybe, we could have some constructive comments here and some useful answers to the questions posed.
Oh, yes, before anyone says anything, I have been guilty of such comments in the past!!
