Snobby BA

Travelling on a short Euro hop recently on a BA 737. Sat a few rows behind the "Club Europe" area (which is empty but for 2 passengers).

Feel an urge to answer a call of nature, and see a very long queue for the toilet at the rear of the aircraft.

I make my way forward to use the forward lavatory only to be greeted by some snotty git in a waistcoat and a very abrupt "I'm going to have to send you to the back"

Now, I understand Club Europe passengers have paid extra for their own bog, but when the section is all but empty, is there really any need to hark back to feudal times?

It's small wonder that BA is losing out to low-cost airlines.....

It's like you who ruin the Club Europe experience.

The cabin is meant to be exclusive, which means that the people who pay a substantial for the service expect a bit of peace and quiet, not to have everyone trailing through.

Well done to the CC member for keeping the service level sorted, I'm sure she could have done without the aggro.

If they let you use it they would immediately have the rest of the queue turn around and use the front lav as well.
Maybe there were only 2 people in the front cabin but they have paid for the exclusive lav and would be rightly upset if you were allowed to use their lav.
Try paying for the front of the plane one day and see how you feel then when the rear cabin want to use the facilities you have paid extra for.

O Pleeeez

Know what? As crew with somebody else, I'd send you back too, and quite cheerfully: I wouldn't lose a moments sleep about doing so.

The Business cabin on any aircraft has a price premium. You pay the price in order to use the facilities associated with it. Unless I've missed something, you decided not to pay for an upgraded product, then unilaterally decided that you had the right to use what you hadn't paid for, then berated the crew for preventing you, then posted a complaint about it with a malicious (and inaccurate) title in here.

As pointed out above, the issue is about other customers who have paid the premium. The world does not revolve around you.

Oh come off it. Half of the people in there have their seat paid for by their company and take pleasure in looking down their nose at "ordinary" passengers.

Whilst I can understand the benefit of paying extra on long haul (and indeed I generally do pay extra) for some peace and quiet, this kind of snobbery has no place in the modern short-haul market.

Well take Ryanair or easyJet then, you'll like it, everyone is equal.

Oh, believe me, I intend to.

I'm quite taken aback that people are rushing to the defence of this archaic airborne elitism.

You want the fancy toilet and the soft toilet paper? You pay the fare or get someone to pay it for you.

I have no doubt this kind of behaviour is one of the reasons for BA's huge loss in the last financial year.

Outdated, abrasive, and utterly un called-for.

Snob

BA does tend to be a bit snobby. In this case however I am for what the CC did. Premium means just that regardless of who pays or who gets upgraded, as long as your are there rules apply. If you dont like it go LCC

HFS.

Money talks. In every aspect of life. I noticed this as a kid. You get what you pay for.

On FR, you'll be paying to stand in the queue for the loo.

Not really, it's been going on for 35 years to my certain knowledge. Now, put yourself virutally in the Club cabin which you obviously so despise, free of charge and just for a moment.
You're (let's put this delicately) feeling uncomfortable, and need to use the loo in a hurry, but there are two economy class pax in front of you - now how do you feel? Uncomfortable and frustrated I imagine, and explaining your predicament to the other pax doesn't necessarily work either -maybe they don't understand. So what would you do?
By the way, I don't do Club/Business/whatever in Europe, so I'm usually the 'wrong' side of the curtain too!

There's really no reason to have to use the lav on a short haul anyway, unless you have bladder control issues.

To echo the posters above, if you want it then pay for it! Got to love the modern sense of free entitlement to anything that people decide they want...I suppose that because all the seats there were empty, you think you should have been entitled to move to them too?

Seems the snobbery is even more widespread than I had first suspected.

Snobbery has nothing to do with it. As many other replies have stated, you get what you pay for, plain and simple.
As someone who now has to pay for my own flights, when I pay extra for peace and quiet, I expect to get what I pay for, otherwise why should I pay the extra in the first place ?.
And don't forget, that BA and every other carrier would rather have a full club section and no 'economy' travellers at all from a profit point of view. The more people that 'abuse' club, the less people will be prepared to pay the extra, thus further reducing BA's profitability. I am sure BA would rather have my custom than yours anyday from a profit point of view.

But then-I think-HighFlyingSpanner-(scion of the high flying socialists?)-that if you had successfully relieved yourself in the Club Europe section, you would pat yourself on the back. You would fall about laughing that you had weed in the toilet provided for those who had paid more than you and you would have written a note on these pages also to that effect. So you expect top pay the cheap price and have a laugh at the world with the candle at both ends. I think not in this case. You were sent about your business quite correctly by a brave and most stalwart cabin attendant. Sure-I would have tried to do what you did-but I would have retreated with a wry smile and good grace.

The trouble with socialism is that sooner or later you run out of everyone else's money.

For christ's sake lets hope you don't fall over and cut yourself, if there is no first aid kit left in 'lower class' then you will just have to bleed to death as you can't use that allocated for snobbery class

By the way, that's a joke, just wish to make that clear before you climb aboard the high horse!
