Flight from Tirana to Skopje?

Hi,

I am aware that there are no direct flights between these two cities, but is there are way of doing it without having to travel miles out of our way (e.g, via London) and without breaking the bank?

The cheapest I've found is with Adria, via Lljubljana, at 418 Euros, and it leaves Tirana at 5am!

Me and a pal need to travel between these two cities on the 26 May 2008. If we can't get a decent flight, then we'll have to get a bus, which doesn't fill me with joy because it lasts 12 hours.

Regards

Get a taxi from Tirana to Ohrid - should cost about 80 pounds. If you want to save the pennies, get a bus from Tirana to Elbasan (plenty available) and then get a cab onwards to Ohrid across the border.

Get another taxi from Ohrid to Skopje - should cost about 40 pounds.

The Albania - Macedonia border is not a problem. Complete trip should take about 6 hours - I doubt you'll do it much faster if you need to take 2 flights

The roads from Tirana to Elbasan and from the border to Skopje are fine. Haven't been on the road from Elbasan to the border for a while though.

Elbasan is a dump, but if you can spare an hour or 2, definitely worth stopping at Ohrid to have a look round the town and lake.

Then you need a Tardis, not a plane.

Cheers for the info about getting a taxi. I like the sound, and ease, of that option. Out of interest, do you happen to know how easy it will be getting a taxi driver to take us to Ohrid. Can we just flag one down and ask, or is booking ahead the best option. Also, what is catching a taxi in Ohrid like? Are there lots about?

Regards
