British Airways is under fire for having one of the worst records for cancelling flights | Mail Online

"One in every 40 BA passengers has lost a bag over the past two years as 2.5million have gone missing."

BA seems to be in pole position.

But just to add a few anecdotes..... admittedly not BA, so the problem seems to be endemic.

Three of us (family, plus a close friend) recently did a total of 18 flights (south of France to SFO and back, and some internal US flights and returns).

During that sample:
- One of us got our baggage four days later. Suitcase pretty well smashed up, although the contents were mostly undamaged.
So far no compensation offered for the ruined suitcase.....

- Another one of us did not get the baggage delivered until the next day.

When we lined up to report the second case of missing luggage, there were five people ahead of us.
That's one in 25 on a flight with 150 passengers.
