Excess Baggage Charges

My partner is flying Toronto next month with Zoom and wants to take extra baggage one way, taking presents. I quick check reveals that Zoom will charge her £10 a kilo = £100 on what she has mind but that DHL will pick and deliver a 10Kg parcel from UK to Canada, in 2-3 days and for £48 + an optional £9 for insurance. Looks like a viable option if you know you are going have XS baggage and can plan ahead.

She might want to check rates with suitcase forwarding companies who specialise in this.

What about import duty etc on unaccompanied bags/parcels? Here in the UK I reckon that I'm less likely to get a tug as a passenger than with incoming mail and the like.
