Bumpy Edinburgh Thursday morning

A friend reports 'the worst landing he has ever experienced' at EDI this morning on a Flyglobespan return from Spain - things out of overheads, heavy braking and ground staff checking tyres after etc. Any clues? I know there had previously been a hole in the runway(!) which was repaired

I am on AGP<>EDI every month but not this flight your amigo was on. You're right about the recent repairs to the runway though.

I do believe, however, I was on the last night flight before the runway re-opened. Coming in from Malaga around 11.00pm I nearly sh*t myself as although the approach was smooth what I thought was Livingston was in fact The Gyle and when we skimmed over the neon lit Maybury Casino I thought our Scandanavian pilot was aiming for the railway!!!

Only on landing did I realise we had came in on the old Turnhouse R/W.

A little knowledge is a bad thing..........
