FO dies on PFO-bound flight, diverted to Istanbul
You've probably heard of this recent incident in the news.

Very sad indeed.
If I may change the subject slightly and talk from a passenger's point of view, I would imagine that on this Cyprus-bound flight many passengers would have held Cypriot passports. As I understand it, Cyprus has no diplomatic relations with Turkey and normally Cypriot nationals would not be allowed in Turkey. Yet these passengers spent the night in Istanbul. Obviously not of their choice, due to this emergency. I was wondering, do the immigration authorities give special concessions to passengers in certain circumstances?
