L@ser pointers now not OK?

One of my colleagues just told me he had his laser pointer taken away from him at security in LHR last week. This is new one on me. Is it normal? I have been travelling with a PowerPoint presentation remote control that includes a laser pointer in handbaggage for the last few years.

If you were travelling with the remote with an integrated laser pointer, it would be wise not to tell them about the laser in the future. When Jorge Arbusto is out of office I am sure the rules will change bacl to common sense again.
