UK to Mumbai

Can anyone recommened the best (ie least uncomfortable) method of getting from the UK (MAN/BHX/LHR or poss LGW) to Mumbai? I'd be looking probably at Premium Econ or Buisness, would also be prepared to have a night in the middle east somewhere too if necessary, though not too keen on an immediate connection...bearing in mind this is likely to be my first longhaul experience, I'd like it to be as painless as possible!

Your thoughts/previous experiences greatly appreciated

Hi perkin,
From LHR , I have been on both BA and Virgin ( but not to Mumbai) in Premium Economy ( VS only ) and Business ( Upper class on VS, Club world on BA) .
Business is excellent on both BA/VS with seats that convert to fully flat beds.
BA has frequency to India but I personnally prefer Virgin ( excellent Clubhouse/lounge at LHR, onboard bar, good crew,ok food and usually Video on Demand)
Jet Airways ( Inidan airline ) is supposed to be good too.
You could probalby get to Mumbai from MAN/BHX on Emirates but would have to change in Dubai.
Regards

Lhr - Bom

Being a pilot & working in India, I use this route quite frequently, albeit usually from BLR.

I tend to use BA as often as possible, & generally travel in Club world. Frequency from BOM is good - 2 flights a day, however, usually running with high traffic loads.

Don't use VS because I don't like their service.

Jet Airways is worth a look - their new Premiere service is akin to VS layout in Upper Class, but with a much better service. If you can afford to push the boat out, their First class suites are wonderful.

Alternatively, if you don't mind a stopover, I've heard good things about Ethiad's new "Pearl" / Business class service. Maybe someone can clarify that.

Regards

I did the reverse route - Mumbai to Manchester - with Qatar Airways in Business Class and couldn't fault it. I think the connection times were maybe not the best so I stayed in Qatar for a few days and made the most of it!

Depends on your budget but my advice would be to go the highest class you can afford so you can use the best available lounge and terminal facilities in Mumbai on the way back.

Stopover options are good, particularly in Dubai. Go on, you might just win that car in the duty free....
