they're all for sale now anyway, so does it really matter?
Air NZ squeezes the pitch on the 74, then tells everyone how great it is on the 77???????
But no - squeezing the pitch would be a huge undertaking, changing c of g and IFE and everything in between.
Maybe you've just got fatter?

I actually only heard a rumour that the 74's were for sale, but as there is almost always one parked up at AK it doesn't surprise me. I know there is one that appears to be dedicated to doing the Melbourne trip.
The 777's are already here.

They've recently had a cabin upgrade, to be the same as the 777s in terms of seats and IFE. I hear they are due to be progressively replaced as their 777-300ERs and 787-9s come along.
767-300ERs are due for the cabin improvements too, I hear.

seat pitch on 747 was 34 inches (which is actually civilised, compared to cramped seating of most long haul airlines, so it would be sad if it went completely).
on 777, refitted is 32 inches (still more than BA or VS or Cathy).
If that is of any help.
Prem econ however, is V.good, better than BA or VS at 38-40 inch on both.
Sadly, if they are moving to a twin engine fleet for all trans-pacific long haul, I won't be using them again. I like four engines for 13 hour flights over water.
