There may be an error on the Air New Zealand website relative to the flying time from LHR to Hong Kong.
With a departure time of 21.15 and arrival at 17.00 next day, I make that 12 hours 45 mins assuming of course Hong Kong are still +7 hours.

Taking this trip with my family in Feb, via HKG to avoid the TSA in LAX

The timings given by TSR2 match what our confirmation says for the NZ38 - leave LHR evening, arrive AKL late morning 2 days later!

We will be in Y, but it seems that NZ have a good product (last time I flew with them was 12 years ago across the Pacific in 767's, but remember their Y class being suprisingly roomy).

Thanks for replies.

Forgive my ignorance but am I correct that we get off the plane while they scrub to bogs in HKG, or do we have to sit there for a couple of hours ?

They normally request that you leave the aircraft OR allow you to leave the aircraft at HKG. That has been my experience with other airlines.

Guess it might also depend on routing and head winds or if being pushed in the tail. Last time I did the route was 13 and 1/2 hours flying time. I recall coming back was actually longer - cattle market BA - hated it. Different story though.
