VS031 LGW/UVF 12 Aug - can anyone help?

We have decided to travel longhaul for the first time with the children 9 /7 and am anxious to keep them as occupied as possible.
I am told that the aircraft on this route is a B747-400 and that there are 2 variants one has games as part of the IFE and one doesnt.

Can anyone advise if one type is more likely than the other (operations permitting) or whether it is really just pot luck.

Thanks

Hi there...

The 2 variants are the LHR -400 and the LGW -400's.

The LHR -400's have a much better IFE system fitted, which has on demand movies, games etc.

The LGW fleet (leisure routes) has a fairly old IFE, but should hopefully still keep your kids amused!

Hope this helps...

Smoggy, must correct you there.

You will not be travelling on an LHR 400.

The LGW 400 fleet are kitted out with either the Nova or the Odyssey IFE systems. Odyssey has games, whereas Nova has none.

Both do have dedicated kids channels.

Have a great flight

Took our twins on the LGW-UVF run a few years back now, when they were not quite yet 4 - no probs at all - it's all about being prepared (take lots for them to do, don't expect any type of IFE to keep them completely occupied) and being relaxed (meaning don't get stressed if they do). One more thing, if they want to sleep (and you can't move as a result!), let them, no matter what time the real or body-clock says it is!

That was our first long (-ish) haul with them, done 3 or 4 more transatlantics since and now they know what to expect, how to behave, it gets easier each time. We're happy enough about it all to be taking them to New Zealand next year (by which time they will be just past 9th birthdays).

Of course, it also helps a lot if your kids get on

PS - if you're on an Odyssey-equipped aircraft, the "Millionaire" game is quite addictive, if you're into that kind of thing!
