Sat Nav to USA - hold or hand?

Am off to the States in a week or so and want to take my Sat Nav over there.

For it to arrive in one piece should I check it in with my hold luggage or should I take as carry on?

Anyone had any experiences?

Cheers

I'd take it as carry on.
As far as I know, there are no restrictions on Sat Navs as hand luggage.
It would be safer above your head then beneath you.
