It's stopped mate, if you use internet check in you are allowed to board first or you can stump up a couple of pounds per person for priority boarding, at least thats how it was a couple of month's ago.

Thats correct. With hand luggage only you can check in online and pre board, or you can pay at the airport if you are checking in bags. Even though passengers (especially families) are advised of the new system, some families still arrive at the gate knowing very well they will not pre board first, and then start shouting and making a fuss trying to get on first. This as you can expect results in a very stressfull boarding.

Why shouldn't families sit togther on flights? Which solo, recreational traveller wouldn't move out of their seat if possible to allow a family to sit together on a flight? Why was there ever any need to start "tinker"ing about with the existing system to double-bluff family groups into stumping up extra revenue for the airline so they can have what is their perfect right to expect, when going with the free flow of normal liberal thinking rather than tinker-minded profiteering?
Paxing All Over The World
This was all dug over last November when it started. The thread was eventually closed. This link should reach it, so that you can read all the shouting about why families must sit together or why they should take their chances. Not to mention that Ryanair is a fantasick/ghastly airline and all the things that are said about RYR in every thread in which they feature. http://www.pprune.org/forums/showthr...light=families

You ask "Which solo, recreational traveller wouldn't move out of their seat if possible to allow a family to sit together on a flight?"
Probably the person who paid extra to be able to choose a seat that they wish to sit in.
I'm not quite sure that I have completely understood this sentence "Why was there ever any need to start "tinker"ing about with the existing system to double-bluff family groups into stumping up extra revenue for the airline so they can have what is their perfect right to expect, when going with the free flow of normal liberal thinking rather than tinker-minded profiteering?"
Ryanair is a business and has seen the opportunity to make some money.
