Virgin's Advance Passenger information - no good if you are British

We are flying to the US with Virgin on Thursday so I tried to enter our Advance Passenger Information on the Virging website tonight. It's obvioulsy important that the information you provide matches your passport, so how as a British Citizen are you supposed to choose for the first passenger from what appear to be the relevant options:

British Dependant Territories
British Indian Ocean Territory
British Nationals Overseas
British Overseas
British Protected

There are also :
European Union
United Kingdom

and for the second passenger there are a different list of citizen posibilities, the only one starting with British:

British Indian Ocean Territory

They also offer:

European Union
United Kingdom

So no valid option for a British Citizen as per the information the passport.

Are all the airlines making up thier own citizenship categories or are they using a US government list?

Info on categories of British Nationality here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/British_citizen and European citizenship here : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/European_citizen

I can't see the problem. My passport clearly says United Kingdom on the front in largish letters. I assume then that the United Kingdom section would refer to me.

United Kingdom

United Kingdom is what Virgin's communications department say that we should select, which is converted by the system to British Citizen.

Gouabafla you are correct, the front of the passport does say United Kingdom, but that is not what it says in the Citizenship area of your passport information. Which is where your legal status is defined.

Virgin say they will review wether thier current system is an over simplification.

Good to get such a clear and quick rsponse from them.
