Question for Dunnunder

Out to Oz next Feb./March for five weeks and want to book flights . Virgin Blue gives Whitsunday Coast as a dest ., is this Proserpine ? Looking to fly
there for Airlie Beach where I was 20 years (!) ago . Virgin web site gives no email address just phone numbers for enquiries . Or is QANTAS better and do they fly there from Melbourne ? Anyone out there who can help ?!

zed3,

Yes Whitsunday coast is Prosepine with VB. They fly direct from SYD, MEL and BNE. When you get to proserpine you can get a bus into Airlie which run every 15 - 30 minutes. You may have to book this prior to getting there. Whitsunday transit are the best in my opinion you can have a look at every thing on their website
http://www.whitsundaytransit.com.au/

Hope this helps

It looks like Qantas mainline has stopped flying to Proserpine, and it's all done by Jetstar, and only from Brisbane so you'd have to change if you were coming from Melbourne or Sydney.

The other airport in the area is Hamilton Island. Again it looks like Qantas mainline no longer flies there and it's all Jetstar. But there are non-stops from both Melbourne and Sydney.

On Virgin Blue, virtually all the flights to Proserpine are from Brisbane. There's only one non-stop flight each week from Sydney; none from Melbourne. And all DJ flights to Hamilton Island seem to be from Brisbane.

You should be able to get through fares if you specify your origin and destination. I think both airlines display the through fares automatically.
