Easyjet flight - photo opportunity possible?

This should really be in spotters as well as here, but here goes: (feel free to move mods)

I an my family are flying to Venice from Gatwick next week on easyjet, would like to know if it is ALLOWED to visit the flight deck/cockpit once the plane has landed or maybe even before take off? (seems unlikely before but anyway...)

Is this possible to take a photo, especially for my 15 year old son who wants to visit and get a pic of himself up in the cockpit

Would I just ask one of the cabin crew to check and then see what the captain says?

Cheers (seems like a silly question )

I can't see it being a problem, just ask on boarding and if it's not too busy then your son could pop in then - or if we are short of time, during disembarkation :-)

Which flight are you on? I am doing a LGW-VCE next week.

Thanks for your reply

Was planning on asking cabin crew once taken off so can visit when landed or is it better, like you said, to ask on boarding and pop in before take off?

I expect my son would enjoy having a chat with the crew up there if he got the opportunity!

Do you work for the airline yourself?
We are booked for the Monday morning (23rd) 6/7am flight to Venice.

Thanks again for your reply.

Hello

Yes I do indeed work for easyJet. I am unfortunately not on your flight so I won't be able to assist you with getting a photo taken.

If your son is wanting to have a few words with the pilots I would recommend that you try to pop in there on arrival into VCE and not during boarding as both pilots will be quite busy briefing one another for the flight etc.

Try to sit quite close to the front of the aircraft as usually in VCE you are bused to the terminal, and the closer you are to the front, the more time your son should be able to spend with the pilots (You will know when it's time to go as someone will drop hints that the bus is about to leave without you!!).

Make sure you make it quite clear to the crew that you want to be able to pop in there AFTER you have arrived as they might say "it's not possible" if they assume that you want to pop in whilst still in the air. Don't say you want to take a photo to the cabin crew though, leave that till you are in the cockpit and ask the pilots directly

Getoutofmygalley,

Thanks for your reply.

Shame your not on our outbound flight, perhaps you are on our inbound flight though?

Returning Friday, (27th) after the Monday we leave on an evening flight around 9/10pm? Maybe you are onboard that flight?

Be great if you are!

I thought that VCE has airbridges/jetties from pics of the airport I have seen, first time to Venice and a new airport so know nothing!

Am I correct in believing that it is basicly a 'free for all' as to where you sit/boarding on easyjet flights?
So if I want the front seats need to get front of boarding queue?
I thought wouldbe unlikely to get in before take off because of clearances on ATC etc. so after landing is fine as far as my son is concerned.

It'll probably be just my son going up there while we stay seated when landed - as it is an Airbus and small plane.
Thanks for your advice last two posts helpful, hopefully my son will get his picture .

Cheers

I believe Easy fly into Marco Polo, if so (and assuming your destination is Venice) you should take a water taxi, it's a wonderful way to arrive in Venice for the first time. November is a great time to visit, there are fewer tourists and also fewer 'nasty niffs' from the canals. Just remember to pack your wellies in case there's an 'aqua alta' (high tide)!

Pax Vobiscum,

It certainly is our first time to Venice, planinng to take a small amount of luggage so as to get from airport easier by as you say, water taxi!

Arrive about 10am - 12pm so hopefully get to spend most of the day getting to know surroundings.

Are there often high tides? Are they frequent such as daily?!

I am not working on the 27th (Day off ). With regards to boarding, yes it is a free for all but depending on the age of your son you could try to get yourself in the pre-board group (is he a teenager or younger? if less than a teenager ask for pre-boarding).

The alternative is to arrive early and get yourself into boarding group A or B where you would have a good chance of being seated towards the front

Pax Vobiscum is correct, we do fly into Marco Polo airport but we don't use airbridges there (to be honest, I don't recall ever seeing them there, they certainly are not where we park up anyway).

GOOMG,

Only thought there was one airport for Venice being Marco Polo, understand it is the main one however.

My son is 15 and other child is 5 so we would get pre-board group for both of them (I hope)?

We are planning on arrving over 2 hours before departure, having last gone out of LGW on 10th August.....

Have a good day off on 27th!
Getting started on packing this evening....

Ooh 10th of August, not a good day to have flown - I was stuck on a Rome Ciampino flight that day, ended up getting back to LGW almost 5 hours late, and then rostered minimum rest the next day for an airport standby duty

As your other child is 5 you should be in the PB group (pre-board) make sure that before you leave the check in desk that the check in agent has put you down in that group

Thats good to hear smiles all round with the pre boarding !

10th August wasn't really as bad as thought and was told on news, wasn't that bad at LGW, although we were delayed 3 hours we didn't really get to check in till the time we were scheduled to take off and there were no security queues at all just the check in queue.

Thanks for all the help, going to be a new experience for us, never used Easyjet before, and never been to Venice or Italy for that matter. Looking forward to it all.

Thanks again for the help, appreciated, I let you know how we got on if you like, with Easyjet that is! Expecting it to be good.

Cheers
