Gradual change from Don Muang to Suvarnabhumi

Many assume the "opening" of the new airport at Bangkok will happen overnight on the 28th of September. However, the process is already underway and the 28th will represent only the end of the old airport. Some domestic carriers are already operating from Suvarnabhumi and others will transfer on Monday.

The following link from the Bangkok Post today highlights the difficulty with Don Muang, as staff are already leaving for the new airport, resulting in staff shortages.

The leader of the recent coup, General Sondhi, said in an interview published yesterday, that the "Official" opening of Suvarnabhumi would go ahead as planned next week.
