Virgin Lounge Access
Any answers received with thanks.....
Flying out of Gatwick next few days with wife and kids on BA WT+ sadly this does not entitle us to BA lounge access despite the many ££££ spent flying 6 of us to the states and back. Anyway, my wife is a Gold Elite member with Krysflyer (star allaince) and for what it's worth I'm silver.
Can we use the virgin lounge at gatwick and take the kids in with us...anyone know?
Failing that, does anyone know much about these 'buy as you enter' lounges I've heard of, how much they are, where they are (at gatwick) and if it's worth the effort?
Thanks

Virgin Atlantic are not part of any airline grouping for lounge access and only accept their own Upper Class or Gold card holders.
For Pay On Entry, then go to the LGW web site and use the Airport Information tab to locate Lounges. BA operate from the North Terminal where there is an Aviance Executive Suite. From the web site, you can get a quote. With six of you, I suspect that it will not be worth it, ie £100. Having sensibly (IMHO) paid money for good seats, enjoy them and just find the best that you can in the Terminal.

Well for the record...Virgin operate out of the South Terminal, BA operate out of the North Terminal so there would have been no chance for you to get near a virgin lounge. Also as PAXboy clarified for you, you are unable to use your Star Alliance status to gain access to a Virgin lounge. Finally, you can only use your status for the star alliance if you are making a star alliance flight that day on your itinerary. To use a lounge when you are traveling on a carrier of a different alliance/airline is not permitted.
Sorry to be the bearer of bad news however I think you will find that the North Terminal in LGW is certainly not as hectic as the south and is a breath of fresh air from the noise and congestion which exists in any of the LHR terminals. Also maybe you can distract the kids by bringing them across the "sky bridge" which links the North Terminal to Pier 6!

I tried at LHR two weeks ago, leaving on a Thai (F class) ticket. As Star Alliance gold I was told I COULD go into the virgin clubhouse, but not take my wife in, so it was back the the rather 2nd rate SAS lounge, full of excitable kids running about instead of using the provided playroom.
