How much?
To charter an aircraft (BA 146 or similar) to fly from southern England to Le Mans (Not sure if a 737 /A320 will get in there) and back, out on a Friday, and back late on the Sunday? Probably about an hour each way, maybe a little more.
Cheers

Nah, it made it all the way without a murmur, next year, I won't have as much time (I'll be a stoodent in Bournemouth) so am looking for a quicker way, as I don't want to miss out.
Anyway, one thing I learnt from the race this year, Diesel is the way to go.

It really is a very short route to Le Mans, so finding operators to cover it might be hard - or it might be more expensive than you think.
Is it just me, or does some of the airport get used by the race rendering it usless for flying some of the time?
It is a very short runway if my memory serves me correctly - around 1000m.
STOL is definitely the only way you'd get in and out - or consider using the likes of Angers instead.
Or do no scheduled carriers or locos fly to airports in the area?

The airport is open during the races, and the main runway is 1410M long, which is a bit on the mean side, that might explain why I saw a few ATRs and bizjets this year, and not a lot else.
Nearest low cost is to Beauvais (Guess who?)
A trislander operator in Lydd might be a goer, I'll give them a bell later.

Went on an Astraeus charter from Gatwick to Sunderland for a play-off soccer match in 2004. Full headcount got the plane at £95 a head if mem serves me right. Guess if a local runway can handle that sort of jet (cant remember if it was smaller 737 or smaller bus), then thats the price to be looking at - must be similar distance?.

Just out of interest (or not!), the runway in Gibraltar is about 1500m long and sees regular services from 2 operators, operating Airbus A320 and Boeing 757.
