Barbados Flight delay

Local paper reports a Gatwick-Barbados charter was delayed for >24? hrs over Easter w/e
On first delay (tech) passengers bussed to Mcr. 2nd aircraft went tech (hydraulics?) o/n hotel then passengers disembarked from 3rd (747) due to inability to program route into on-board computer
I have no problem with delays, hopefully covered by pass travel insurance, but apparently the crew tried for 4 hours to input route before abort
Opinions?
