RIAT 2006 BA Charters

Does anybody know if BA are planning any charters to RIAT 2006?

Who is responsible for chartering the aircraft and where do they usually depart from?

I know a BA 744 has been chartered in the past.

Cheers!

Ben

I'm not sure but I'll try to find out next time I'm at work. The 744 deal was pretty good from what I recall, £99 all in. Do you know the dates for RIAT this year? I think it's 16/17th July but I'm not sure.

It's the 15th-16th July.

Where do the charters leave from?

Are they chartered by a private company or do BA sell tickets themselves?

Previously they have left from LHR (T4 since they were LH aircraft). I think RIAT were acting as agents. I'll try to find out more details later this week.

I flew with BA in the 747 in 2004.

It departed T1 at LHR. (well that's where we checked in but were bussed to T4 following an unserviceability)

Anyway - it is a great experience and worth doing - but weigh up the pro's and cons:

1. We arrived just before the flying display had started. (but by the time we got out etc....)
2. The terminal is at the far western end of the runway.
3. You have to check in for return before the end of the display (but they did allow us to sit outside the terminal and watch)

All in all worth doing I can assure you!

It didn't operate in 2005, so I guess don't take it as read that it will this year.

Was a 744 in 2004 and a 772 in 2003, IIRC

Sorry chaps...

Just had it on good authority from BA and the RIAT organisers that there will be no BA charter this year. Apparently BA don't have enough spare aircraft. Makes economic sense to use the plane on a scheduled route instead of leaving it on the ground at Fairford all day I suppose.... Shame.

I'll be driving down the M4 at some horrid time in the morning again.
