birdstrike danger at BHD

Here's a question for pilots who regularly fly into Belfast City. I've just enjoyed a bracing walk along the esplanade at Holywood and watched a number of aircraft both departing and arriving - mainly Dash 8-400's and one BMI airbus. Do any pilots feel there's a raised danger of birdstrike on this approach? Some of the aircraft today - especially those arriving - seemed to be very close to the seagulls etc which fly around in that area? As someone who uses BHD quite often it didn't exactly fill me with confidence. Plus, of course at the other end of the runway there are the swans, ducks etc in the lake at Victoria Park. I wouldn't fancy being on a Dash 8 over Belfast Lough when both propellors came into contact with a flock of seagulls. I'm not a swimmer.

If the worst happened it'd be props 1, seagulls 0. Wouldn't imagine it'd cause too many problems for a turbofan either.

Frozen chickens are another matter, as some former test engineers of Rolls Royce (IIRC) could attest...
