Hong Kong - Regal Hotel

I will shortly be transiting Hong Kong and will have to stay overnight. I checked with the Regal Hotel and they said that it is about a 10 to 15 minute walk from the airport to the hotel.

Not too far (depending on the speed one walks at) but I have a bad ankle/foot. Do you know if there is a bus there or some sort of moving walkway? Sounds pathetic I know but that is life.

Its more like five minutes from the arrivals gate exit - tell your airline and they will give you a buggy lift no problem

The Regal is an easy 5min walk (covered walkway)

Link to HK Airport and Regal here: http://www.hongkongairport.com/eng/v...stination.html

HKIA operates a meet and assist service.....and you can, obviously, organise a wheelchair service from your airline. More details: http://www.hongkongairport.com/eng/a...ancillary.html

I have stay there occasionally and like it. Once in a while, in the lobby, I will see an adoptive family with a new Asian child, either checking in or checking out. I cannot describe the unique loving interaction I see between parent and child in this situation. I am in awe and mesmerized. And, for a while after, I forget all about what is ailing me!

Thanks for all your replies which have taken a load of my mind. Have made a reservation through Asia Rooms which is much cheaper and they quote in Euros. Just waiting for the confirmation.

A pleasure 5As .... I forgot to mention, they tend to offer, if rooms are available, an upgrade to the business floor (its actually two floors connected by a private escalator ) when you check in.

You get a bigger/better room with the usual toys, free internet (I can't remember whether it is wireless or RJ45 jack) and the use of the business class lounge (which like the rooms on the business floors has a fabulous view of one of the runway thresholds about 300M away and provides breakfast, very substantial snacks and refreshments all day and free booze with little restriction if you are well behaved [1700 - 1900 I think]).

I was there about about 10 days last time (working for HKAA) and was very good value for money.

Have a good trip - would be interested to hear how you got on.

Will certainly let you know how things go when I get to the Philippines and find a computer/server that is working!! I must admit the idea of the upgrade sounds pretty good, I will keep everything crossed.

Showing my age now but last time I was in HKG I was on one of the last flights into Kai Tak, those were interesting days.
